Ozel Beykent Egitimde Rasyonel Acilim Lisesi

TURKEY

It's a private school, which is located in the west part of Istanbul (a suburb of Istanbul, Beylıkduzu). It was founded in 2015. Our founder, Orhan ÖZBEY, has been in the educational sector for about 50 years. In our school, our purpose is to educate and improve the students’ quality of learning using highly developed technology. Each class is equipped with a smart board and very strong internet coverage to enhance, the flexibility for both teaching and learning. Modern electron zed bulletin boards placed in hallways attract students' particular attention and it encourages them to make good and attractive projects to be hanged on the boards. All these devices help to improve our students listening, reading and writing skills especially in foreign languages “English and German.” All teachers are highly trained and experienced. There are 30 teachers in high school. The total number of the students is 368 in high school. All the school walls have a beautiful mural drawn by the art teacher and students. The school has got front and backyards which allow students play football, basketball during school break-time and physical education. The school organizes tours to England. Students attend summer schools and learn more about British culture. They learn to interpret customs and traditions from other countries and cultures in a better way. Most students are keen on discovering new places and meeting English-speaking friends. So they take this opportunity seriously. We also arrange cultural tours within our country. e.g., we take the students to Cappadocia, Ephesus ancient city. Most students are interested in taking one to one lessons especially in languages. Some students have excellent command of English and German. So our school provides them with after school classes both on weekdays and on weekends to keep the standards of their language on track. Students are also interested in participating in talent shows such as karaoke shows. They are also willing to take part in drama; they sometimes attend TV live shows like “O Ses Türkiye”. This academic year we are preparing our students to participate in “MUN”. They will go to Antalya. We organize debates classes every month. Our students are motivated to read English novels and take part in reading competitions such as “Oxford Big Read Competition.” This year, we are going to take part in the competition for the second time. Our students are supposed to draw comic strips, make a poster or create a new book cover in order to win an award in the competition. Last year one of our students in the 9th grade came first in the competition in our district. We prepare our students for the TOEFL exams. Most of the students are planning to study engineering, medicine, law or such branches in English at the university and they also want to do their masters degrees in the USA or from other foreign countries. They are aware of the significance of learning English besides German.
